If not, it will be stamped on an oval pad behind the oil filter (passanger side at the top front of the block). The earliest engines begin with the prefix "CJ2A". Later, Willys dropped the CJ2A prefix and replaced it with the simplier "J" prefix.

Hello, I have a 48 CJ2A its all stock.except is has been converted to 12V but still has the 6V starter. Sep 29, 2021 · Pretty sure the M38 requires the 5/8-inch spacer to mount properly (ensures proper fuel pressure and volume). Pretty sure it also requires pre-loading the diapghram. Both procedures are covered in the M38 TM. As is troubleshooting and measuring the pump for proper pressure and volume. I assume you have the TM. For currosity sake what kind of gas mileage does a 2A get on the open road. Mine doesn't leave the propety and the speedo is broke, so I can only measure smiles to the gallon. The maximum efficient RPM for a G0-Devil is the same as the maximum torque output @ 2100 RPM. With standard 29" tall tires the pre 1963 CJ's will optimally cruise at 35 MPH. Not nearly as efficient but I will recommend an absolute maximum sustained RPM of 3100. The maximum sustained speed then becomes 50 MPH.Oct 21, 2022 · I am new to this forum. I have acquired a 1946 cj2a from a family member this year. I have been trying to get it going over the past few weeks. It has sat for the last 10+ years. I emptied the gas, changed filters, changed oil etc. I knew it had a transmission problem with the clutch. The release lever/ control cable had come off. Anyway looking to do the following to the CJ2a over the next couple of weeks and months: V1903 Kubota Diesel Conversion. Replace all gauges with Autometer Z Gauges. Replace Radiator with Aluminum Radiator. Upgrade all the fuel lines. I have a noise in the transmission when it is in neutral and the engine is running with the clutch pedal out. When I push the clutch to the floor the noise goes away, and I don't know if the noise is around with driving down the road because of road noise and engine noise.I'm currently building my CJ2A to have a Dana 27 in the front and Dana 44 in the rear. I'm putting a Lock Right locker in the Dana 44, and I plan on putting another Lock Right locker in the Dana 27 as well but only because I have manually locking hubs, so I leave the front hubs unlocked the majority of the time.The Iron Duke is an engine that Pontiac “borrowed” from Chevrolet. It is based on the Nova 4 engine, same as a 350 is based on the 265. WW2 Spare tire mount on the 1946 CJ2A tail gate. Tire is a 16/700. The tread of the tire is flush with the outside of the passenger side of the tub. We pull a M416 trailer with this Jeep.

If you use an M-38 or CJ-3A frame to replace a CJ-2A frame the left motor mount will not line up, but a simple adapter can be used.
